How to Enter:
- All contestants must be between the ages of 11 and 18 as of January 1, 2008.
- All contestants must be a resident of the Pocket Smart Wireless service area.
- Contestants will be able to pick up information forms at any Pocket owned store or kiosk, but they must register online at www.pocketsnextbigstar.com. When registration is complete the registrant should print out the confirmation page
- On the day of their initial screening, they must bring their confirmation printed out and signed by a parent or guardian, along with a small picture for the judges’ reference.
- Contestant spots are limited to 90 per venue in San Antonio and the Rio Grande Valley; 135 in Laredo.
- Contestants should arrive 1 hour before auditions begin to receive their contestant number
- Each contestant will have 30 seconds to sing a cappella; the song should be appropriate for family audiences.
How to Win:
- Judges will vote and the top three contestants of each screening will move on to the Semi Finals to be held in each market in the months of February and March 2008.
- At the Semi Finals event, contestants will have 90 seconds to sing the song of their choice (background music must be submitted for approval 1 week before the event).
- Judges will vote and the top 2 contestants will move on to the Finals event to be held at Sunset Station’s Lonestar Pavilion on May 4, 2008.
- At the Finals event, the finalists will have 2 minutes and 30 seconds to sing the song of their choice (background music must be submitted for approval 2 weeks before the event).
Alternates:
Pocket Communications (along with the judges recommendations) will select a minimum of 3 performers (1 per market) to serve as alternates. These alternates may be called to fill in should one or more contestants fail to attend the Semi Finals Event in their market.
Eligibility:
Employees and Vendors of Pocket Communications, their employees, any advertising and promotion agencies, their respective parent, subsidiary and joint venture companies, or any other entity involved in the development or administration of this Contest, as well as members of such employees' immediate families and households including children, spouses and siblings and/or other people living in the same households as such persons, whether related or not, are not eligible to participate. By participating, entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of the representatives of Pocket Communications who will be judging the entries, and/or any other sponsors, which are binding and final on matters relating to this Contest.
